The GB3 Championship is becoming increasingly competitive with the introduction of a new car for the 2025 season, over eight rounds.
Louis Sharp won the title last year and is stepping up to FIA F3, showing the championship can provide a springboard up the ladder to Formula 1 for drivers.
Reza Seewooruthun is making his debut in the championship this season for Argenti, as he and the team compete in GB3 for the first time.
The British driver is graduating from the British F4 championship, a campaign that yielded third place and two wins over the campaign.
Seewooruthun will have to contend with GB3’s new car, which has significantly more power and downforce than the F4 car, and the added complication of DRS.
The three-car lineup of the Argenti with PREMA drivers features Mercedes junior and British F4 graduate Yuanpu Cui, as well as Spaniard Lucas Fluxa.
This internal competition within the team should push Seewooruthun, but the teenager has his eye on two other contenders in GB3.
Ninovic and Fairclough will be the “main competition”
He highlighted Deagen Fairclough and Alex Ninovic as two drivers who may be fighting at the very front in 2025.
The pair have a history as Fairclough prevailed in their battle for the British F4 crown after they collided at Brands Hatch Indy and Snetterton.
Seewooruthun told the official GB3 website ahead of the season: “I think Alex Ninovic and Deagen Fairclough will be in the fight. Deagen won a lot last year, and Alex seems good in the high downforce cars, so I think they’ll be our main competition.
“I’ve been looking forward to getting in the high downforce cars and the racing should be a lot better than in F4. It’s a different challenge but it should be good.”
The opening round of the championship being at Silverstone may allow Seewooruthun to hit the ground running at a track he knows.
Argenti’s new recruit won the third race of the weekend on the Grand Prix circuit in British F4 last year.
There will be a lot of competition in GB3 but Seewooruthun is admant his goal is to clinch the title.
“I want to win it, that’s the goal and the team has put a lot of time, money and commitment into this project. Obviously the link with Prema boosts your confidence even more going into it and I know everyone in the team has the same mission. That mission is to win.”
